Impressed that the Tribune has live twitter updates on their homepage about #WAshooting. Smart move to cover the story. http://bit.ly/fQBeS

During a 7min break at the #sstc I bought Cardinal of the Kremlin from MetaBooks downstairs. Been looking all over for this book. #GTD FTW!

At least 260,000,000 Americans have had their sensitive/personal data leaked. Dang. That's almost all of us. #sstc

.@brainfroth wants Tacoma to stop the braindrain. Companies need to capitalize on new grads to keep them here. #sstc

I'm on a panel about non-profits and technology at the SSTC tomorrow ...

I'll be part of a small panel tomorrow at the South Sound Technology Conference on non-profits and technology.

With me with be Scott Kuehn, from Topia Technology, who volunteers his technical expertise with the UW Genome Science group. Should be interesting!

See the whole schedule here.

I'll be twittering throughout the day I hope.

New Mary Holste Design website is up!

Mary's business has technically had a website these last couple years, but it's basically been a contact form, with little else going for it. After some solid work this past month, I'm happy to say that we finally have an actual website going.

Check it out at MaryHolsteDesign.com. Also there are two screens below.

Sometimes, the website you design may be your own. :)

Side projects on stage!

5 local techies showed off their "work that wasn't for work" last night at SiteCrafting. I felt like it was a good round-up of interesting projects--from Twitter apps to algorithms used for mapping DNA to URL shorteners, there was a lot of everything.

Represented were several SiteCrafting people--SiteCrafting was also a wonderful host for the event!--plus a couple from Topia, the two most recognizable tech companies in Tacoma at this point. Also some entrepreneurs, techies and communications folks from some big employers in town, and even someone from Tacoma Economic Development who dropped by to see what kinds of things people were up to.

I didn't present--my side project idea is still just a draft business plan and not much more--but it was inspirational to see what was going on in Tacoma. For a couple of the presentations I caught only about half the acronyms used, but still--pretty cool.

Thanks to the presenters and glad to see so many people attend!

Next tech event: South Sound Technology Conference on November 20. Hope you can make it!
